Happy Birthday to… Me!

Woop! Yup, today is by birthday. I feel so old, I’m already paying for my pension. Eeep. But, I did get some pretty cool stuff today, have a nosey below.

Just waiting for Monster Hunter Tri, which gets released tomorrow. Can’t wait! :D

April Fools’ Roundup

Yesterday was that time of the year again, April Fools’ Day, the day of pranks and LOL’s. Here is a quick roundup of some of the main April Fools’ from across the Internet that I stumbled upon.

Firstly, from Google:

  • Google had announced that it was changing it’s name to Topeka, after the Kansas town of Topeka in question had decided to change it’s name to Google. “Let me just Topeka that for you…
  • Google also announced it’s new Android App, called ‘Google Translate for Animals‘, a new service that allows you to translate the grunts and barks of animals into recognisable speech.
  • YouTube had introduced a new ASCII text based video format, which is meant to be designed to reduce bandwidth (it doesn’t, the effect is done post-download). It’s a shame they’ve now taken it off, it was quite funky. Coincidently, they also updated the layout on the same day, but as a permanent change.
  • I’ve also heard of Gmail removing all vowels out of words, making it quite annoying to read.
  • Google Japan have released a new drum based keyboard.

With deviantART, they made a few changes too:

  • They changed everyone’s avatars to either Team Jacob or Team Seeker photos (from Twilight), and also of Lady Gaga too.
  • The new Lllama Badge was also added, where people could give other uses a badge of a llama free of charge (it is still active after yesterday).

Various news websites include a secret hidden level of Mario Bros. Wii, World of Warcraft designed to work out the size of your e-peen (and various others), CollegeHumor’s website being taken over by the FBI and more.

Surely there are hundreds of similar things that have happened, so post about the one’s you’ve found in a comment. =]

TVCatchup

I’ve recently discovered TVCatchup, an awesome website where you can watch live TV streams for free. It is only available in the UK however, but it has all of the selection of Freeview channels available. It also has an online TV guide so you can check what is on, and when. It is dead easy to use, great quality and loads in seconds. Quite chuffed with it, especially because I live in an area that doesn’t get Freeview.

Go watch some TV: http://tvcatchup.com/channels.html

Christmas Time…

Woo, Christmas is nearly here and I’m all excited. Excited so much that I have been playing with the GD Libary in PHP to make an automatic countdown to Christmas. Woop woop.

And I am currently working on a new website which will be released as a beta pretty soon (hopefully before Christmas anyway), so watch this space. =]

New Photos

I really do need to start updating this blog more recently (it’s been nearly 2 months from the last time), and I know I keep saying it (not that many people even read it anyway, so its somewhat a catch 22 situation). And speaking of ’22′, I’m pretty sure that I am being haunted by that number – I keep seeing it everywhere? Unless I am just going mad and it’s going to turn out that it was my fault all along (ya know, like the film The Number 23). Anyway, not much has particularity happened in the ‘Wonderful Life of Jamie Oliver’ as of late (that is of grave importance that everyone must know at any rate), so I haven’t had much to post about anyway. There have been moments where I thought about posting something and then since either forgot or just really couldn’t be bothered.

Well, for a start I have since taken some new photos while out on my travels (I say travels, only to Alton Towers again and Matlock Bath), but either way I have some pretty decent photos which I am proud of. All of which are long exposure shots, which I haven’t played with very much before so in doing so it has been a learning curve. So head over to my image gallery at deviantART and take a gander, and let me know what you think.

And is it just me, or do I use prosthesis in my posts just a bit too much?

Anyway, over and out – and I never know how long ‘out’ will be; lets hope it isn’t as long as the last time (not that this post will be read by anyone within the next few months anyway). And look, there I go again with the prosthesis…

Forced WLM Upgrade

I’ve just discovered that Windows Live Messenger is now forcing users to upgrade if they like it or not. I have been using 8.1 ever since it was released, as I’ve never liked the new version (it’s too ‘shiny’ and over the top). I’ve always found 8.1 to do the job nicely and easy to use, but now when I load it I am being forced to upgrade. Grrh.

Even if 8.1 is 3 years old, that’s not the point – I’m annoyed.
