I managed to have a play on Zelda: OOT (which was like dying and going to heaven), Pilotwings, Kid Icarus, Street Fighter, Nintendogs, Resi Mercenaries, Face Raiders, AR Games and got to watch a load of previews of other games. PES, Dead or Alive, Steel Diver and some other games were also available to play, but they weren’t my cup of tea.

The 3DS was more amazing than I expected, and much smaller and lighter too. The graphics are bright, crisp and sharp, and the whole 3D experience was very easy to jump into and was very immersive. Everything about it filled me with amazement and awe.

While we were waiting to go into the event, there was a room with all of the past handhelds and history about them. There was also a 3D hologram thing of the 3DS logo, and a large interactive floor where you and jump on and the 3DS ‘squares’ follow you, pretty cool. The event started off with a group of us let into a dark room where there were two actors were fighting to Street Fighter music which was really amusing and not what we were expecting. Then into a next room where there was a ‘live’ Resident Evil room, with zombies grabbing you and with more actors. Both of which were themed really well and was a lot of fun. Then into a room to watch a brief video of the upcoming games for the the 3DS, with an amusing message from Jonathan Ross too.

Then we were told to go upstairs, into a dark and well themed area with loads and loads of 3DS stands – it was amazing. We had 30 minutes to go and play on any game that we liked. An additional room was opened up half way through, where we could try out AR games, Face raiders (both of which worked brilliantly) and some other games. There were also previews of Mario Kart 3D, Paper Mario 3D, Metal Gear and others. As well as this, there was a preview of Sky 3D clips on it too, which didn’t look too bad.

  • Kid Icarus

All in all, it was a brilliant day and Nintendo did an amazing job at showing off the 3DS. Can’t wait to get my hands on it, for a second time. :D Even more excited!

For those that haven’t played NSMBW, you definitely should, It’s pretty awesome. It brings together elements from all of the original games, including the original Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World, among others. Plus, Yoshi is back :D

This won’t be just another version of the DS, but a new console entirely. It will have full 3D functionality without the need of special 3D glasses or accessories, and will be completely compatible with previous DS and DSi games.

The 3DS is also thought to believe (though not 100% confirmed) that it will have high detailed graphics (possibly the equivalent of the Gamecube, as the patten goes) and the possibility of a motion sensing device. With the success of the Wii, it would be silly not to. It is also said that it will utilise the Nvidia Tegra 2, which would be sweet.

The Nintendo 3DS is set to be released during Nintendo’s next financial year, between April 2010 and March 2011. Could this mean a pre-Christmas release? More details are due to be unveiled at this year’s E3, on June 15th.

I don’t know about everyone else, but I am sure excited about this. Let’s just hope it is more successful than the Virtual Boy ended up.

I’ve heard before about it and never thought much of it, but I went out on a whim to watch it anyway. I’m glad I did. For those that don’t know about Tron, it was a film released in the ’80s based on a guy getting sucked inside of a computer. It had some of the best CGI visuals of it’s time (it still looks impressive today). From this, I ventured out and got the game (Tron 2.0, PC) and that lived up to the film perfectly. I’ve become quite interested lately in old ’80/’90s films based around computers; ending up watching The Net and Sneakers too. It is always interested in to see how old films like this perceive the technological future.

And on another note, I have vowed to actually update this blog more often, as well as use my Twitter account more often. I say this regularly, use it for a while and then forget; but I don’t want it to be the case this time. Not that anyone listens anyway. As if I haven’t posted in about 4 months, not good.

Nintendo have just released a new scheme to get everyone’s Wii connected to the Internet. If you help someone get their Wii online, both you and the person you connected get 500 Wii points to spend in the Wii Store (to buy things such as games and channels). Getting your Wii online means that you get access to new channels and content, and be able to download new games too. You can now watch the BBC iPlayer on the Wii, meaning that you can catch up with all BBC programs at any time. It also allows you to play certain titles over the Internet with friends and people all around the world (Mario Kart Wii to name a good one). I was wondering if using this scheme I could help people get their Wii online and in doing so would allow us to both benefit. Once your Wii is up and running and connected to the Internet, follow the steps below to activate the bonus Wii points for both of us:

  • Enter the Wii Shop Channel
  • On the Wii Shop Channel welcome page there is an icon called ‘Connection Ambassador Promotion’
  • Select this icon and you will be prompted by two icons: one showing that you are the Connection Ambassador (or the Helper) and the other icon showing that you are the ‘Person Who Was Helped’
  • Select the ‘Person Who Was Helped’ icon
  • You will be prompted to enter the Wii Number: 5248-8782-3737-3511
    (You must do this within 30 days of accessing the Wii Shop Channel)

Once both parties have registered, you will have received 500 Wii Points on your Wii Shop Channel Accounts to spend in the Wii Shop Channel

Once you have, comment to this post or send me a message with your Wii number (which can be found by following the steps below). I will then enter it in the ‘Connection Ambassador’ section and we can then both earn 500 points to spend on games. You need to enter my Wii number first.

To find out your Wii Number:

  • Turn your Wii console on
  • Go to the “Wii message board” option located on the lower right hand corner of the Wii menu screen
  • Go to the “Create message” option on the lower left hand corner of the screen
  • There will be a icon that says “Address book”, go to that option
  • Once in the “Address book” option you should see a page with two arrow cursors on each side. Click on the left arrow cursor
  • You should see page that says “This console’s Wii number” and at the bottom your Wii number.
